What
is Topical Oxygen Therapy ? |
| Topical Oxygen Therapy is the delivery of 100% oxygen directly to an open moist wound at a pressure slightly higher than atmospheric pressure. Studies indicate that concentration of oxygen at the wound site increases the local cellular oxygen tension, which in turn promotes wound healing. |

Topical Oxygen Therapy protocol |
|
The therapy is the application of oxygen direct to the wound site with protocol: ⇒ 90 minutes per day ⇒ 4 consecutive days ⇒ 3 days rest ⇒ Repeat cycle until wound is healed Topical Oxygen Therapy is suitable for all healthcare environments but is most often prescribed for in-home treatment and administered by the patient. This eliminates the need for costly ambulatory care or patient transportation. GWR Medical utilizes their FDA approved O2Boot and O2Sacral devices that are one-time use and disposable, therefore, reducing the risk of cross contamination. Topical Oxygen Therapy can be used with other common wound care modalities. The patient continues to see their physician on a regular basis and is monitored for compliance. |
